Manawari SEA is a non-profit organization that works to develop and highlight the voices, capacities, and expertise of Southeast Asian communities and youth in responding to the triple planetary crises of climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss.

Our Mission

Manawari SEA envisions communities across Southeast Asia leading in the development of policies and measures to address environmental and sustainable development problems, thereby ensuring that solutions are intersectional, rights-based, and equitable.

Today was all about learning by doing at the Las Piñas-Parañaque Wetland Park, and it was a blast!πŸ€©πŸ§‘πŸ’š The Parabukas and Wetlands International Philippines spent the past few weeks learning about climate change, biodiversity, and human rights in the office. So, given Manawari SEA’s mission to empower the youth, we saw it fit to get them out of the classroom and into nature! One of the best places to teach them about biodiversity conservation and pollution is LPPCHEA, a wetlands site and protected area inside Metro Manila. Thanks to the kind staff of LPPCHEA, we learned about the different types of plant and bird species thriving in this ecosystem. In fact, 151 bird species have been identified in the area! Unfortunately, we only managed to see (and hear) six of them.🌳🌊πŸͺΏ We also spent an hour doing a coastal clean up and waste audit along the shores of Manila Bay. Even after an hour of hard work, we barely made a dent. πŸ₯΅ As we walked around the mangrove area we saw single-use plastics washed into the roots of the ma groves, causing damage to them. It was a day filled with fun, learning, and life lessons! The experience truly showed us how much work remains in saving the people and the planet. We’re happy to see so many youth joining the cause. ❀️
